Sink your teeth into another Shark Week
They never set out to be television stars, any more than they sought Hollywood fame in a Steven Spielberg movie.
But sharks stay among the most imperishable (if unlikeliest) members of TV's A-list. Just consider Shark Week, the summer programming event on Discovery Channel since 1988. Once again, sharks are in the limelight as Shark Week promotes respect and appreciation for these noteworthy animals (with excitement as well part of the mix).
Shark Week 2008 airs from 7 p.m. to midnight tonight to Friday, and from 9 a.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, featuring some of the most popular programs from past years, as well as premiering these six shows:
"MythBusters: Shark Special" (9-11 p.m. tonight): The dynamical reality-check crew from Discovery's "MythBusters" series investigates myths about sharks, including: Are sharks repelled by magnets? Do dogs attract sharks?
"Surviving Sharks" (9-10 p.m. Monday): Les Stroud, master of ceremonies of Discovery's "Survivorman," has tips for water safety, and he tests popular theories for surviving shark encounters.
"Day of the Shark" (10-11 p.m. Monday): This should be of particular interestingness to swimmers who take avoided the ocean after dark since they saw "Jaws." It chronicles six shark attacks that took place at different multiplication of twenty-four hours, to determine whether sidereal day or night is safer for swimming.
"Dirty Jobs: Greenland Shark Quest" (9-10 p.m. Tuesday): Mike Rowe, host of "Dirty Jobs," travels in search of the cryptical Greenland shark, which scientists hope potty provide lessons in the rapid bionomical changes touching that portion of the world.
"How Not to Become Shark Bait" (10-11 p.m. Tuesday): A thrill-seeking team tests shark-attraction theories with tiger, lemon and reef sharks.
"Mysteries of the Shark Coast" (9-11 p.m. Thursday): On Australia's northeastern coast — nursing home to more species of sharks than anywhere else on the globe — sharks are disappearing. A cross-discipline team of sharkaphiles sets off to determine why.
Other shows to take care for:
You say sharks aren't exciting enough for you? Then check out the dinosaurs on "Jurassic Fight Club," a new series that promises insight into the psychology as well as the physiology of these creatures. The first of the 12-episode series re-creates the action as two Majungatholus dinosaurs face off in a title bout from 70 million age ago. "Jurassic Fight Club" premieres at 9 p.m. Tuesday on the History Channel.
The SciFi network's kinky drama-comedy series "Eureka" returns for a third time of year in a certain little town of big-time geniuses. "Eureka" airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman are actors, best friends and motorbike fanatics. Now they're co-starring in "Long Way Down," a Fox Reality Channel (159 on Comcast) series that takes them on a 15,000-mile road trip from Scotland to South Africa. A follow-up to "Long Way Round," this 10-episode series premieres at 9 p.m. Saturday.

'My Life - My Way': Frank 'Ol' Blue Eyes' Sinatra - Explosive New Book Reported to Be Entertainment Legend's Firsthand Account of Life in '50s and '60s
person by Marty Tanner, a close associate of Frank Sinatra, "'My Life - My
Way' - Frank 'Ol' Blue Eyes' Sinatra" (published by AuthorHouse -
http://www.authorhouse.com), the revealing new book by Ed Starkey, is more
than just a biography; it's also somewhat of a mystery. Many critics insist
that the story was written by Sinatra himself, with the stipulation that it
not be published until after his death.
"My Life - My Way" shares the intimate details of Sinatra's life in the
turbulent 1950s and '60s, offering an explosive and explicit look at one of
the most venerated entertainers of all time.
In 1950, Frank Sinatra began to take a notable plunge from the heights
of popularity, a plunge highly attributed to his affair with actress Ava
Gardner. Having successfully kept their relationship secret for two years,
its discovery by the masses created "major shockwaves," and Sinatra's
television show, personal appearances, recording sessions and movie
audience attendance suffered greatly.
His highly publicized separation and eventual divorce from wife Nancy
leads to a tempestuous two-year marriage to the ravishing Ava. While Frank
is unable to solve Ava's quintessence, he can never get over his profound,
unyielding love for her. She remains the girl of his dreams.
"My Life - My Way" goes on to track Sinatra's career resurgence with
his win of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for "From Here to
Eternity." The book reveals the personal details of his ill-fated, two-year
marriage to rising star Mia Farrow, a "hippie" and "flower girl" 30 years
his junior.
Follow Sinatra on his rollercoaster ride of a life, journeying with him
as he once again travels to the top of the entertainment world, accompanied
by the infamous Rat Pack, and makes a permanent place in history for
himself as an entertainment legend.
Ed Starkey is the author of more than two dozen books of poetry and 10
novels. A co-founder of York Poets, he co-chairs a monthly writer's
critique at York's Borders Music and Books and has won numerous awards in
York's Riverwalk Arts Festival and Yorkfest contests, as well as various
Pennwriter competitions.
A widower with three children, five grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren, Starkey lives in the small town of Dover, Pa., just
north of York.

Will Young: 'My New Album is the Best Yet'
British pop star Will Young says his forthcoming fourth album has the best material he's ever recorded.
The singer -- who shot to fame after winning British TV talent contest Pop Idol in 2002 -- feels he's finally moved away from the show to create the music he feels most comfortable with.
He reveals, "I've never been happier with my music than I have with this album.
"I took a lot of time off. I went away traveling, but after the acting I went straight back into the music.
"I spent the longest time I've ever spent making an album and I think it feels right.
"Maybe I'm finally growing up but everything is clicking into place."
The album, Let It Go, is due for release on September 29, followed by the single, Changes. Will, 29, plays T In The Park in Kinross-shire, Scotland, this weekend.
